Patches of rough bumps formed on back of upper arm, cheeks, thighs and buttocks are called keratosis pilaris. This is hereditary and is neither contagious nor hazardous. Give two washings every day using mild skin cleansers having no harsh chemicals
Scrub the affected area with an exfoliate to get rid of the keratin plugs. Mixture of water and sugar or salt and sugar can be used. Scrubbing must be mild and should not cause damage to the skin.

v Wash your skin daily using a mild soap that does not contain any strong chemical. Apply mild creams which are exfoliating. Apply with a gentle scrub such as loofahs.
v Always keep your skin moisturized by drinking plenty of water and applying moisturizing lotions containing lactic acid, salicylic acid or glycolic acid. Avoid prolonged bath and over sunning.
v Take a healthy diet daily which can ensure a better appearance of your skin.
v Eat vegetables and fruits that are rich in fiber, Vitamins A, B, C & D.
v Consume flax, hemp seeds and salmon which are rich in omega 3 fatty acids.
v Avoid preservatives as well as foods containing chemicals.
